Local Scholarship Application

The Counseling Office bulletin includes scholarships and other information for seniors and for students in grades 9, 10 and 11 . When applying for scholarships, students need to read the scholarship criteria carefully and are encouraged to apply by or before the deadline.

Italian Catholic Federation

DEADLINE: March 15, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: $400

Italian Catholic Federation is offering $400 to seniors who are Roman Catholic and of Italian descent (applicant must be Roman Catholic but need not be of Italian ancestry to qualify if either parent or grandparent is a member of the “Italian Catholic Federation.” Applicant must possess a minimum 3.2 GPA See counseling for a paper application or download an application at www.icf.org or see counseling for an application.

Woodlake Lions Club – 2018 Cinco de Mayo King and Queen

DEADLINE: March 16, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: Based on ticket sales and performance.

Seniors if you are between the ages of 16-18 and are interested in running as a candidate for the 2018 Woodlake Lions Club - Cinco de Mayo King and Queen, then complete the candidate application by or before March 16th, 4 PM deadline. You must have a minimum an overall 2.5 GPA. For the full details please pick up an application in the Counseling Office or from Mrs. Rachel Lira at Woodlake City Hall.

 

Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California Scholarship

DEADLINE: March 15, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: $500

The Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California will be awarding approximately 125 scholarships statewide to seniors of Portuguese heritage. Be sure to read the application requirements and guidelines carefully and apply if you are eligible. This is a fillable scholarship application available on the Cabrillo website: www.cabrillocivicclubs.org/scholarship.asp. Mail completed application to: Attention: Mr. Breck Austin, State Scholarship Chairperson - 472 Paradise View Dr. -Vista, CA 92083.

 

Italian Catholic Federation (First Year Scholarship)

DEADLINE: March 15, 2018.

AMOUNT OF AWARD: $400

I.C.F. is a National Roman Catholic Fraternal Organization composed of person of Italian ancestry (including persons of their spouses) who is of the Roman Catholic Faith.  ICF First Year Scholarship is offering a $400 scholarship to seniors who are Roman Catholic and of Italian descent.  Applicant must be Roman Catholic but need not be of Italian ancestry to qualify if either parent or grandparent is a member of the “Italian Catholic Federation.” Applicant must possess a minimum GPA of 3.2.  See the Counseling Office for a paper application or download an application at www.icf.org

 

UC Davis Young Scholars Program (UCD-YSP) – class of 2019 and 2020

DEADLINE: March 16, 2018

APPLICATION FEE: $25

Applications for this summer research program are now open until March 16, 2018. This program offers opportunities in the biological and natural sciences for 40 academically talented rising juniors and rising seniors. Selected on the basis of a competitive application, successful applicants will reside in university dormitories from June 24 – August 4, 2018.  Participants in this program work closely with university research faculty on individual projects. All research is conducted under the supervision of UC Davis research faculty and will take place in UC Davis campus laboratories. For additional information, online application materials, nonrefundable application fee of $25, fees please go the program’s web site http://ysp.ucdavis.edu.  Please note substantial fee reductions are available for qualified accepted students; the total anticipated cost is $6,500.

California Association of Winegrape Growers Foundation (CAWG) Scholarships

DEADLINE: March 16, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: $8,000 (for a 4-year college) or $2,000 (for a 2-year college)

CAWG is offering at least six scholarships in 2018 to seniors.  Two (2) 4-year $8,000 scholarships are available for any campus in the UC or CSU system, and at least four (4) 2-year $2,000 scholarships are available for any two-year California community college. Only children of vineyard workersemployed in the 2017 or 2018 wine grape growing season are eligible to apply. Complete the scholarship application and submit a two-page essay (500 words) along with official transcripts. Fresno State Preview Day 2018

Seniors, you were all emailed the Preview Day at Fresno State flier for this year. Seniors are encouraged to register and attend this event on Saturday, March 17th from 9AM to 2PM. If you plan to attend Fresno State in the Fall ’18 you are highly encouraged to check out this event.  Information and RSVP at previewday.gotofresnostate.com

 

Sun Pacific Scholarship

DEADLINE: March 23, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD:

(3) 20,000 scholarships for seniors attending a four-year college and are interested in earning a bachelor’s degree and

(2) $3,000 scholarships for seniors attending an accredited trade school or two-year community college.

Seniors if your parent or legal guardian works for Sun Pacific Growers and Shippers, then apply for this scholarship! Recipients will be selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, community activities, leadership, personal interview and financial need.  Deadline/postmark March 23rd. Pick up an application in counseling or check your student email account for this scholarship.  

 

Self-Help Enterprises

DEADLINE: March 30, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: $500

Self-Help Enterprise (SHE) is proud to announce the availability of the competitive academic scholarship from the Doris “Do” Dooley Scholarship Fund.  Applications are now available to seniors from families that have participated in SHE programs. SHE includes Multifamily Housing, New Homes, Housing Rehabilitation, Community Development and others. The student’s family must have participated in one of Self-Help Enterprises’ programs. Pick up an application in the counseling office or download one at www.selfhelpenterprises.org  under the “Get involved” tab.

 

 CAA/ESA Youth Scholarship Program (California Alarm Assoc. & Electronic Security Assoc.)

DEADLINE: March 30, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: varies ($1,000-$2,000)

CAA/ESA Youth Scholarship Program is awarding over $25,000 in funds to children of active duty law enforcement and fire service personnel in California who are graduating in June 2018. There are eleven regional awards, one statewide award, and two national awards. This program rewards students who have excelled academically and are active in community service and extracurricular activities at their school. The CAA/ESA scholarship application and information is available at: www.CAAonline.org.

 

Caltrans District 6/Central Region Transportation 2018 Scholarship

DEADLINE: March 30, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD:

Caltrans is encouraging high school seniors in Fresno, Madera, Kings, Kern and Tulare counties to apply for their eleventh annual scholarships. There will be a total of six (6) scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 as described below. Apply if you meet the scholarship criteria and are eligible. Applications are available in the counseling office or on their website at: http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist6/

  • Four (4) Caltrans District 6/Central Region Transportation Scholarships for seniors who will pursue a career in transportation related field.  Applicants will have the opportunity to be selected for a $1,000 or a $2,000 scholarship.
  • Two (2) Caltrans District 6/Central Region Employee Family Scholarships for seniors who will pursue a career in transportation related field and are related to a current, former, or retired Caltrans District 6 employee.  Applicants will have the opportunity to be selected for a $1,000 or a $2,000 scholarship.

 

Tulare County League of Mexican-American Women Scholarship

DEADLINE: March 31, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: $500

TCLMAW scholarship is now available to seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, please ensure that you list a college major and answer all questions as best as possible. Pick up a paper application in the counseling office or print out the attached. This competitive scholarship application is open to both male and females students. The Letters of Recommendation can be completed with the (2) forms attached; however, the recommender doing your letter must return it back to you in a sealed envelope to mail as part of your application packet. 

 

Ray Jones Scholarship Fund

DEADLINE: March 31, 2018
AMOUNT OF AWARD: (5) $2,500 and (1) $5,000

This scholarship is offering five (5) $2,500 scholarships to seniors who are eligible and qualify based on demonstrating financial need, have proof of California Indian descent and have a minimum GPA of 2.0.  Only one student will receive a $5,000 scholarship; this student must be applying to a four-year college seeking a bachelor’s degree. Read for Life “Pass the Word” Student Scholarship

DEADLINE: April 6, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: $500

The annual Read for Life “Pass the Word” for Literacy Scholarship application is now available to seniors who have completed a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer service outside of school which focuses on improving literacy in Tulare County. Applicant must have a minimum GPA 2.5 and plan on attending a college, university or vocational/trade school in the fall. Valley Oak Quilt Guild

DEADLINE: April 6, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: a $500-750 Scholarship

This organization founded in 1987, is offering a scholarships to seniors who are interested in continuing their education and have been involved in the field of fiber arts and quilting during their high school years. This organization recognizes that this could be more of an avocation than vocation, and so a college major is not this field is not necessary. See the counseling office for a paper application.

 

California Women for Agriculture (CWA)

DEADLINE: April 15, 2018

AMOUT OF AWARD: varies/ranging from $500 to $1,000

The Tulare/King County Chapter of California Women for Agriculture will be awarding up to $5,000 this year in scholarships. Three different types of scholarships will be offered: Four-year University, junior college and four-year university continuing education. Applicants must have a minimum 3.4 GPA in high school and plan to major in an agricultural based major with clear aspirations in having a career in the agriculture industry. Pick up an application in the Counseling Office.

 

Engineering Possibilities in College (EPIC)

DEADLINE: April 15, 2018

EPIC is a one-week engineering summer camp for students currently in grades 9th, 10th, and 11th.  EPIC introduces campers to the varied fields of engineering through hands-on labs taught by university professors and industry professionals. Every student attends (8) eight labs tailored to their selected engineering focus. There are labs with a focus in the following types of engineering: Aerospace, Civil, Environmental, Material, Architectural, Computer, Industrial, Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing.  IF you are interested apply online at epic.calpoly.edu. Tuition costs: $1,620.

 

Triple X Fraternity

DEADLINE: April 15, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: (4) $2,000

The Sequoia Chapter of the Triple X Fraternity (located in Visalia), is offering up to four (4) $2,000 scholarships to deserving seniors of Armenian descent. See the Counseling for the paper application.

 

FOU-E Scholarship (Focus on Unity in Education)

DEADLINE: April 16, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: (2) $1,000

Seniors apply for this scholarship if you plan to major in the field of Education (Teaching.)  You will want to apply at least a week prior to the April 16th, because the application must be in their office by this date, so mail it earlier if you apply! Focus on Unity in Education is a non-profit organization designed to provide research-based professional development opportunities to educators in Central California.  This year, they are offering (2) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from Central CA., who is planning a career in education. This application has been emailed to seniors, so please check and read your school email.

 

InFaith Community Foundation

DEADLINE: April 30, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: varies

InFaith Community Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of the Undergraduate and Graduate scholarships through the Tulare County Lutheran Scholarship Program.  This scholarship opportunity is for seniors who are members of congregations that hold an active InFaith Organizational Fund. American College Foundation - Visionary Scholarship Program (Grades 9-12)

DEADLINE: May 1, 2018

AMOUNT OF AWARD: Ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 with multiple winners.

This scholarship is available to all students in grades 9-12.   Click on Visionary Scholarship, and then scroll to where it reads “How to apply,” and then the Registration Page.  Apply at www.AmericanCollegeFoundation.org.  All applications for the (ACF) Visionary Scholarship Program will consist of: 1) a completed ACF Visionary Scholarship Application, 2) student’s unofficial high school transcript, 3) a 500 word, typed, double-spaced essay. All components of the application must be received for a student to be eligible for an award. Applications are judged on the ability to follow guidelines (25%), grammar and punctuation (25%), and the merit of the written essay (50%). Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or Eligible Non-Citizens and may be asked to participate in a qualification interview as part of the application process to assist the ACF in ultimately determining the winners. All are one-time awards, non-renewable, and are to be used exclusively to offset costs and fees related directly to the student’s first year of higher post-secondary education at an accredited institution.
