Migrant Education Alumnus for Region VIII
Graciela
Soto, a 1994
Woodlake Union High School graduate was named the Tulare County
Migrant Alumni of the year. She was selected out of fifty-one
participating school districts in Kings and Tulare Counties. While
growing up in Woodlake, she worked the fields picking a large
variety of crops; she feels that this gave her invaluable experience
about the value of hard work and how important education can be. By
the time she graduated, she was a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant)
and a Home Health Aide. Upon graduation, she attended USC where she
worked with a variety of migrant programs designed to improve
peoples’ lives. After receiving her Bachelor of Science, she
continued her work with migrant services while working on her
Masters in Health Administration. At the young age of 26, she was
hired as the Chief Executive Officer of Tulare Community Health
Clinic. At this position, she has continued to expand services to
better serve our migrant population and continues to strive for more
and better opportunities for this underserved population. Her
commitment to service is shown from membership and working with
numerous organizations.
