Dear Friends & Alumni of Woodlake Union High School
As we near the end of 2003, I would like to wish
all of our friends and supporters a happy and healthy holiday
season. As the season of generosity approaches, please remember how
your contributions continue to support the excellence at Woodlake
High. Without strong community involvement from folks like you, many
of the accomplishments and achievements of the students at Woodlake
High School would not be possible.
I would like to update you on some of the
activities the WHS Foundation has been involved with recently:
* Our First Annual WHS Foundation Golf
Tournament was a great success! We had a beautiful day for golf,
and we successfully earned over $6200.00, which will be put to
good use for the students at Woodlake High School.
* We continue to support performing arts programs, athletics,
and academics: including special needs such as replacements of
supplies as a result of theft.
* Career Day was again an even better event than the previous
year with the students benefiting from the numerous volunteer
professionals donating their time to meet with the students.
Sadly, we lost a very special community member and
long time supporter of Woodlake High School, Gertrude
"Trudy" Schuckert. A memorial scholarship was established
in her name through the WHS Foundation. Trudy was a tremendous
supporter of education and the needs of the students, and she was
our most famous "gourd artist" donating her beautiful
artwork each year for our Reverse Drawing Silent Auction. Trudy will
be greatly missed, but you can remember her with a donation to the
WHS Foundation memorial scholarship designated for her.
I would like to take the opportunity to
congratulate Lloyd Hicks, a Woodlake alumni, and a former director
of the WHS Foundation, for his appointment as Tulare County Superior
Court Judge. We regretfully accepted his resignation as a director
in order for him to proceed with his career.
Please consider a contribution of any
amount and help support Woodlake High School. Just complete
the contribution return form, and your tax-deductible gift can be
returned in the envelope enclosed for your convenience. If you would
like more information on long-term giving, such as putting the WHS
Foundation in your will, please feel free to contact me or any other
board member. Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Holly Peltzer; President, WUHS Foundation
