Career Day 2003
Each year Woodlake
Union High School hosts a Career Day featuring our alumni as
presenters. This year’s event was October 24th and was one of the
most successful in the seventeen year history of the event. Over
two-hundred presenters took part this year. The day started with a
Keynote address by Dr. Jackie Harris-Groeber class of 1976. Over
half of the presenters were WUHS Alumni with Lloyd A. Wacaser
representing the class of 1924. After the Keynote address, students
attended five different presentations on different careers. A
College Fair was held in the Gym, which had representatives from
forty different schools, many of them WUHS Alumni. There was a
longer lunch with activities and the day ended with the Homecoming
Pep Rally. Presenters received a free pass to the Homecoming
Football game that evening.
This year’s Career Day was organized by a
student steering committee headed by Judith Hernandez, Delia
Rubalcaba, and Emi Rourke. The College Fair was put on by the AVID
11 class and was co-chaired by Kayla Childress and Ashley Marroquin.
These students worked hard all year to make this year’s Career Day
a great success. They were in charge of overseeing the rescheduling
of the entire student body for one day, inviting presenters, and
helping organize seven student committees. They did an outstanding
job coordinating this event from the planning process through the
final thank you letters.
The financing for this event was made possible by
generous donations from the Woodlake High School Foundation,
Woodlake Kiwanis Club, San Joaquin Valley College, and many local
businesses. If you are interested in participating in Career Day
next year, which will be held on October 15, 2004, please contact
